Veteran signs on with Jones teammates

Two-time Canadian women’s curling champion Chelsea Carey is returning to women’s fours competition as the new skip of the former Team Jennifer Jones.
Carey was announced as skip today on social media, and will lead Karlee Burgess, Emily Zacharias and Lauren Lenentine during this fall’s 2024-25 season.
Carey also spared for Jones at two World Curling Tour events this past season. The squad went 6-2 in Edmonton and 5-2 in Halifax, losing both championship finals.

“I’m incredibly excited and humbled by the opportunity to join this team,” Carey told The Curling News. “Karlee, Emily and Lauren are great players and teammates and they have accomplished so much these last few years with Jen.
“We had a couple solid events together this season when I filled in for them, and we are looking forward to continuing to grow together and push towards our goals.”
The team won back-to-back silver medals at the last two Scotties Tournament of Hearts competitions. The new team likely has a berth secured in the 2025 shootout, which runs Feb. 14-23 in Thunder Bay, Ont.

Carey clashed with Jones on the ice many times in her career, and labelled the legend “the GOAT skip (Greatest Of All Time)” in one of her popular TCN columns during the 2024 STOH in Calgary.
In other lineup news, Kyle Doering has joined Alberta’s Team Sluchinski, Scott Howard has Tim March and the Camm brothers in tow—with retired dad Glenn coaching—and the B.C. men’s champions skipped by Catlin Schneider have split up.
