Just days after the end of the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials – and one day before Friday’s start of the Olympic Qualifying Event in Kelowna, B.C. – the Olympic torch has made the journey from Athens, Greece to Rome, Italy.
Italian tennis professional Jasmine Paolini was entrusted with the honour, accompanied by Italian IOC member Giovanni Malagò. The two touched down just minutes ago.
Jasmine Paolini and her important carry-onThe official torch relay begins Dec. 6 and heads south, stopping in Naples over Christmas and Bari on New Year’s Eve.
On Jan. 26, 2026, the torch will make its way to Cortina d’Ampezzo, the host site for curling, bobsleigh, luge and skeleton, marking 70 years since the Games of 1956 in that town.
The Mixed doubles curling competition kicks off in Cortina on Feb. 4, while the torch wraps its tour on Feb. 6 in Milan with the Opening Ceremony at the San Siro Stadium.
