She wasn’t sure she wanted to stay involved in her sport.
Now a four-time world champion skip is leading Korea’s high-performance curling program.
Swiss women’s fours skip Silvana Tirinzoni has been named Head Coach of the Korean Curling Federation.
The move comes nearly four months after Canada’s Brad Gushue was named as the high performance boss of USA Curling.
Scotland’s David Murdoch has been leading Canada’s HP program since 2023.
Tirinzoni spoke exclusively with The Curling News following the announcement.
“After announcing my retirement, I took some time to reflect on what I wanted to do with the next chapter of my life,” said Tirinzoni.
“I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to stay involved in curling.”
Tirinzoni said the KCF then approached her and “I immediately felt that this was something I wanted to do.
“Korea has so many talented curlers and I’m really looking forward to working with them, sharing my experience and being part of their journey.
“I’m genuinely excited about what’s ahead.”

“Starting with the upcoming 2026-2027 season, she will oversee all national team disciplines, including men’s and women’s four-player teams and mixed doubles.”
Tirinzoni retired last April after a legendary career which included an unprecedented four consecutive world women’s four-player curling championship titles. The 2026 Olympic silver medallist, who also scored a rare eight-ender at the worlds, also set the record for the longest winning streak in world curling championship history – 42 consecutive game victories between 2021 and 2024.
The Federation plans to build a specialized team to back Tirinzoni, which includes Lee Min-seok (responsible for analyzing opponents and global trends) and Kim Hong-young (ice conditions and technical equipment).
An official from the Korea Curling Federation stated, “We are delighted to welcome a world-class athlete – who achieved an unprecedented four consecutive World Championship titles – as our head coach.
“We will provide unwavering support to ensure that the combination of the head coach’s extensive experience and our athletes’ potential leads to tangible success on the international stage.”
Like Gushue, Tirinzoni will remain based in her home country, and will travel to join the Korean teams for training and competitions.
