A simpler way for curling clubs to draw teams

A simpler way for curling clubs to draw teams If you've ever helped with team selection at a curling club, you'll probably recognise the scene: a table covered with pieces of paper, names being moved around, trying to create fair teams while keeping track of player positions and club rules. It works, but it can be time-consuming and stressful for the volunteers who give up their time to make our clubs run. As someone who works in IT and is also a curler, I wondered if there was a way to make that process a little easier. That led me to create Rink Draw. Rink Draw is a free online tool designed to help curling clubs create random team draws quickly and fairly. Clubs can enter their members, choose whether they need teams of two, three or four, and set player position requirements or preferences. You can enter names manually or import them from a spreadsheet, create draws for multiple competitions, and export team sheets ready to use in club materials. Privacy was also important when building the tool. No member data is stored or uploaded, so clubs remain in control of their information. It can also help clubs who are moving meetings online. By sharing the screen during a virtual selection meeting, everyone can see the draw process and be part of the decision-making. Curling clubs are powered by volunteers, and small improvements that save time can make a big difference. I hope Rink Draw helps make one of the busiest jobs in the curling calendar just that little bit easier. If your club gives it a try, I'd love to hear how you get on and what features you'd like to see in the future. 🥌 www.rinkdraw.com
