
The biggest Swiss names in the new Olympic curling quadrennial got the job done at the 2023 Swiss Championships in Geneva, while another completed her last domestic championship before retirement.

Silvana Tirinzoni’s foursome from Aarau rode a third-end three-count to defeat Corrie Hürlimann’s Zug team 6-4 in the women’s final. Meanwhile, Team Yannick Schwaller enjoyed home-rink advantage in beating Zug’s Michael Brunner 7-4 in the men’s championship final.
Brunner defeated Zug’s Jan Hess 8-5 in the semifinal. Fourth place went to Marco Hösli of Glarus.
Schwaller, Benoit Schwarz, Sven Michel, Pablo Lachat and coach Håvard Vad Petersson will head to the world men’s curling championship in Ottawa, Ont. to start competition on Apr. 1.

Tirinzoni, Alina Pätz, Carole Howald, Briar Schwaller-Hürlimann and coach Pierre Charette will represent Switzerland at the world women’s championship at Sandviken, Sweden in March.
The Corrie Hürlimann squad defeated Raphaela Kaiser of St. Moritz 9-4 in the women’s semifinal.
Fourth place went to Michele Jäggi of Biel, which marks the end of Jäggi third Irene Schori’s Swiss championship career.
Schori, the four-time world champion and cancer survivor, is retiring from competition at the end of the season.
