66 years of The Curling News—and counting
February 15, 2023 was the 25th anniversary of the Olympic men’s curling final at Nagano 1998. George Karrys and his Team Canada mates (Mike Harris, Richard Hart and Collin Mitchell of Toronto) won the silver medal after losing to Patrick Hürlimann of Switzerland. Five years later, George purchased The Curling News.
This episode looks back at the history of The Curling News, including its Canadian Curling News origins which date back to Calgary in 1957. We also examine how George became the custodian of this legendary journal of curling, which counts an impressive number of professional sportswriters and all-star curlers among its contributors.
