Veteran heading back to New Brunswick

Another Canadian women’s lineup change has been announced.

Just days after the finale of their hometown Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Team Krista McCarville has announced that former New Brunswick STOH skip Andrea Kelly has left the squad.

After two seasons with Team McCarville, Andrea has decided to step away from the team, returning to play at home and spend more time with family,” read a team statement posted online.

Big things were expected from this revamped version of Team McCarville, but the squad only managed a won/loss record of 8-8 at the past two Canadian championships.

McCarville has been the STOH runner-up twice, in 2016 and 2022, and has four bronze medals at major championships—two at the STOH (201, 2023) and two at the Olympic Trials (2009, 2021).

Kelly has competed in 13 Tournament of Hearts championships, winning bronze in 2023.

Earlier this week, word broke that Jamie Sinclair and Lisa Weagle have departed from Quebec’s Team Laurie Ste-Georges.

“We will be cheering on Andrea in whatever her curling career holds next!” said the statement.

“Stay tuned for what’s next from Team McCarville.”
