Rock League, the professional mixed curling team league first announced in April, has announced the full athlete rosters and team names for all six franchises set to hit the ice in April 2026.
Rock League also announced the general managers who will lead each team throughout its inaugural season.
The original six franchises include two from Canada, Maple United and Shield Curling Club, USA’s Frontier Curling Club, two in Europe – Northern United and Alpine Curling Club – and Typhoon Curling Club in the Asia-Pacific region.
Each roster features five women and five men, establishing Rock League as, in the words of league owners The Curling Group, the “world’s first truly mixed-gender professional sports league.”
Eve Muirhead • World CurlingAccording to a TCG news release, a minimum of 60% of the athletes originate from the team’s region but to ensure competitive balance in the league’s first season, up to four import players were permitted per team.
In total, the 2026 rosters represent athletes from 12 countries and include a combined 21 Olympic medals.
The general managers were selected for their strong ties to the regions they will oversee and will be responsible for roster management, coaching leadership, and day-to-day team operations. The GMs include Scotland’s Eve Muirhead (Alpine Curling Club), longtime Japan curling coach JD Lind of Canada (Typhoon Curling Club), Ontario legend Glenn Howard (Maple United), former kevin martin front-ender Carter Rycroft (Shield Curling Club), former Thomas Ulsrud teammate Christoffer Svae (Northern United), and the third for USA’s John Shuster, Chris Plys (Frontier Curling Club).
Rock League strategic advisors and Olympic gold medallists Jennifer Jones and John Morris created and oversaw the development of rosters and GM appointments.
Carter Rycroft in 2022 • Michael Burns-Curling Canada“Building these rosters was an opportunity to showcase the incredible depth and diversity of curling talent around the world,” said Jones. “Our goal was to create teams that are competitive, entertaining, and reflective of their home regions, while also ensuring a level playing field for the league’s first season. We believe these lineups set the foundation for an exciting new era in our sport.”
“This was a chance to help shape something truly new for curling,” said Morris. “The talent we’ve got here is energetic and seriously impressive. The dynamics of these new teams are going to lift the sport in a fresh way that fans haven’t seen before.”
