Final four confirmed, disappointment for six others

They had to sit out the final round robin game and wait, but Bruce Mouat’s team are in to the men’s fours final four.

Switzerland beat Italy 9-5 to move to a perfect 9-0 and as a result, Great Britain (5-4) made it into the semifinals as the fourth and final team.

Mouat will take on Switzerland’s Yannick Schwaller in one of Thursday night’s semifinals.

The other will feature Canada (7-2)  against Norway (5-4). It will be a rematch of the found robin finale just completed, which saw Magnus Ramsfjell’s boys defeat Brad Jacobs and Co. by an 8-6 count.

A Canadian win might have opened a permutations door for Danny Casper’s USA foursome, who were idle this morning and finished 4-5, tied with Italy’s Joel Retornaz.

Germany and Czechia finished 3-6, while and China and Sweden – the defending champions – a shocking 2-7.

Semifinal action gets underway at 7:05 p.m. in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The final women’s round robin draw takes place at 2:05 p.m. local, with the women’s semifinals scheduled for Friday morning.
