For those trying to keep up with it all

Over the past few months, the sheer number of curling team lineup changes has been dizzying.

It’s been particularly wild on the women’s side, certainly in recent weeks.

Curling fans can easily scroll back to our coverage of the biggest stories – and here’s a hint, you can see all stories from “The Curling News” on its author page, and scroll back from there.

But here’s a catch-all catch-up on some recent women’s team lineups:

Laura Walker, who filled in for Jocelyn Peterman with Team Kaitlyn Lawes and almost won Canada’s national women’s title, has split with her dedicated mixed doubles partner Kirk Muyres – after eight years! – and is returning to women’s fours play.

Walker, who welcomes husband Geoff back home to Alberta following his lengthy stint with Team Brad Gushue, will compete in her adopted home province with Serena Gray-Withers, who made a fine shot to capture the national mixed doubles title.

Catherine Clifford and Zoe Cinnamon – who made a stunning shot in her MD semifinal – round out the squad.

Winnipeg’s Kate Cameron is headed to Quebec. The 34-year-old skip (and former third) will now captain Laurie Ste-Georges’ team – Ste-Georges now plays third, with Emily Riley and Émilia Gagné on the front end.

Sarah Daniels of B.C. made noise this week by welcoming Abby Ackland – who skipped a Manitoba team at the 2023 STOH – as well as Ontario’s Calissa Daly and Saskatchewan’s Dayna Demmans.

Daly’s former skip Danielle Inglis has a full new team, with Ontario veteran Jo-Anne Rizzo at third, Geri-Lynn Ramsay at second and Joanne Tarvit at lead stone.

Ramsay most recently played third with Calgary’s Kayla Skrlik, who has signed star junior skip Myla Plett as her new third. Sarah Koltun and Samantha Fisher man the brushes.

Former Inglis third Kira Brunton now skips a northern Ontario squad of Kendra Lilly, Jamie Smith and Lauren Rajala.

Lilly is the only former member of Team Krista Scharf – who split after competing for a decade, winning eight Northern Ontario titles – who plans to compete next season.

Former skip Emma Artichuk is beefing up Carly Howard’s Ontario squad, which sees Grace and Alice Holyoke remain on board.

Also in Ontario, veteran Sherry Middaugh skips a fun team with her two daughters, Emily and Kelly Middaugh, and with hubby/dad Wayne Middaugh as coach.

Megan Smith is the only non-Middaugh on the squad.

Sherry Middaugh leads her back-to-back Canadian senior women’s champions at the world championship beginning next week in Geneva, Switzerland.
