Birchard moves to third stones, will keep on brushing
Team Einarson has announced the recruitment of Jocelyn Peterman to the new-look squad for 2026-27.
The Alberta competitor will now move to her third straight Manitoba women’s fours team, after stints with Jennifer Jones and Kaitlyn Lawes.
“I’m really excited to team up with such a hardworking, talented group of women,” said Peterman. “I can’t wait to get on the ice, learn from each other, and see what we can build together.”
Peterman will throw lead and call skip stones from the tee.
Team Einarson graphicFormer second Shannon Birchard moves up to third stones, but will remain a sweeper on Einarson’s skip rocks along with Karlee Burgess, who now throws second.
“A proven competitor on the world stage, Jocelyn adds depth, versatility, and leadership as we continue to evolve,” said a team social media post. “This new chapter allows us to build on our success into the next quadrennial.”
Just five days after winning world championship silver, Team Einarson announced the departure of their coach and two players, including longtime third Val Sweeting.
Team Lawes recently announced their split.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jocelyn to the team,” the post concluded. “She’s an incredible player with a ton of experience, and we can’t wait to hit the ice with her next season.”
Peterman and her husband Brett Gallant competed in Olympic mixed doubles in Cortina, which required her to miss Team Lawes’ run to silver at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
